New to Choral Biennale 9: Woodbirds!
Situated in the middle of the countryside, within cycling distance of Haarlem, is De Overplaats country estate, an old and unique inland dune area, managed by conservation organisation Landschap Noord-Holland.
At this estate, the Choral Biennale is bringing music and nature together in a setup that treats the audience to exciting open-air projects in various locations with views of the surrounding natural scenery. The programme features age-old sounds, such as folk music from Iceland, Gregorian chants and timeless music from the British Isles. Not all the music is ancient, but it is, however, always tranquil, inspired by timelessness. That said, you will also be able to hear some full-blown swing. The concerts take place in a tent that has been set up especially for the occasion and at times, literally among the trees. In the interval or after the concert, there is a glass of wine to be enjoyed and those who want to can join a nature guide for a woodland walk to complete the experience.
